The colony of South Carolina has decided to join the Anti-Federalists. The idea of a very powerful national government and power in the hands of the wealthy scares us quite a bit. The fact that most of our population are farmers and not the high class merchants that will have all of the power in this new constitution does not sound favorable for us, or any of the other states that rely on the same things that we do, like farming! Also, doesn't a government with a lot of power sound like another place we know? A place that we all chose to leave? If we allow this new constitution, we will end up in the same place that we were in in England. Only the wealthy and high class, as well as the King, have any power, and the rest of us are forced to do and say what we are told. That wasn't the picture for America guys! This is the land of new opportunities, and if we strip away our freedoms through all of these new recommendations, then we might as well all move back to England.
